The EU AI Act
Sounds Like Me® is a Limited Risk Provider Under The EU AI Act.
Sounds Like Me® provides AI-generated written feedback based on information voluntarily shared by users. Our system operates entirely within clearly AI-labelled environments such as ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot, where users are already informed they are interacting with artificial intelligence.
As we do not perform profiling, automated decision-making, or operate in any high-risk domain listed in the EU AI Act (Annex III), Sounds Like Me is classified as a limited low-risk AI system provider.
In line with the requirements of the EU AI Act, no additional user-facing labelling or registration is required for our service.
The EU AI Act (2025) sets strict boundaries on how AI can operate in sensitive environments like workplaces and schools. It bans emotion recognition systems that use biometric data such as facial expressions, voice tone, or gestures, to infer a person’s emotional state, except in narrowly defined medical or safety contexts.
Emotion detecting AI is considered a high risk and often prohibited practice because it can violate privacy, enable covert profiling and undermine trust in professional and educational settings.
In contrast, Sounds Like Me® from iAM is classified as low risk because it empowers users to voluntarily share their values, their tone, in their own words, creating a personalized AI experience that is transparent, user initiated and ethically aligned with the Act’s principles.
